# Virumo > Virumo is a remote-first IPTV player for Fire TV, Android TV and NVIDIA Shield. It plays the playlist you bring: it includes no channels, no lists and no links. ## What it is Virumo is a player, not a source. It contains no channels, in the same way a web browser contains no websites. You connect an M3U or M3U8 playlist link, or an Xtream Codes login (server, username, password), that you are entitled to use. Programme guides load from XMLTV or from an Xtream panel. Devices: Fire TV Stick 4K (2018, the reference device), Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, NVIDIA Shield TV and Shield Pro, and Android TV or Google TV devices running Android 7.1 or later. Shipping today: live TV from your playlist, up to four streams on screen at once, sourced either from one account that allows several simultaneous connections or from several added playlists (one connection per stream, so the provider's allowance and the device's decoding set the ceiling), a 48-hour programme guide, live rewind on channels streamed as MPEG-TS, catch-up where the provider offers it, films and series from the provider's on-demand library, 4K and HDR playback through the device's own decoder (Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG where the device reports them), automatic frame-rate matching, surround audio passed through untouched with a stereo cap if preferred, audio and subtitle track selection, three themes, and accessibility work including a Reduce Motion switch and every colour pair measured against WCAG AA. Also shipping: search across channels, films and series; a Continue Watching screen; and a touch layout for Android phones and tablets with picture-in-picture and background audio. On the roadmap, and not in the app today: recording (DVR), parental PIN and adult-hide, phone-assisted setup, a Google Play listing, and optional premium features as a one-off unlock while the core stays free. ## Pages - [Home](https://virumo.app/): what Virumo does, how it works, devices, roadmap and early access. - [Support and setup](https://virumo.app/support/): install guides for Fire TV, Shield and Android TV, troubleshooting, questions and contact. - [Security](https://virumo.app/security/): credential handling, permissions, network behaviour, untrusted playlists and vulnerability reporting. - [Privacy](https://virumo.app/privacy/): what the app and the website do and do not collect. - [Accessibility](https://virumo.app/accessibility/): the standard this site and the app are built to, and the limits we know about. ## Facts - Virumo is free during early access; later, some optional features will be a one-off unlock, and the core app stays free. - Virumo requests one Android permission: internet. Nothing else. - Virumo has no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting. Credentials stay on the device in its encrypted keystore. - Live rewind works only on channels streamed as MPEG-TS; HLS channels play normally but cannot be rewound yet. - Virumo is not on the Google Play Store yet; early-access builds are sideloaded. - Virumo does not provide, host, index, sell, recommend or link to channels or content, and takes no referral money from anyone who does.
